But the number of seats changes a lot: the licence you need, the price, the comfort and the way you travel. This guide helps you choose the right vehicle for your group. 9 or 12 seats: what really changes
A "9-seater" has 9 seats including the driver. So it carries 8 passengers. A "12-seater" has 12 seats, so it carries 11 passengers.
Driving licence
In Morocco, a B licence (normal car licence) lets you drive a vehicle with up to 9 seats, including the driver, and up to 3.5 tonnes. For more than 9 seats, you need a D licence. This is the licence for professional bus drivers. So with a normal B licence, you can drive a 9-seater yourself. You cannot drive a 12-seater. Comfort and luggage
Plan one medium suitcase and one small bag for each person. When a 9-seater is full, there is not much space for bags, unless it is a long version. A big minibus has more space, but if it is full, you have the same problem. A good rule: do not fill every seat if your group has large suitcases.
What about the Mercedes Vito 9-seater?
Many people know the Mercedes Vito as the classic 9-seat van. Many clients ask us for a 9-seater Vito rental. To be clear: Alliance Tours does not have a Vito in its fleet today. The closest vehicle we offer is the Renault Trafic L2 9-seater. It is a long van of the same type. It starts from 110 €/day, and you can drive it with a B licence. For a small group that wants more comfort, the Mercedes V-Class 7-seater is our premium choice, from 140 €/day.

What about a 12-seater or 15-seater minibus?
12-seat and 15-seat minibuses exist, but they are not in our listed fleet. For a group of 9 to 13 passengers, we offer the Fiat Ducato 14-seater minibus, from 120 €/day. This is often the best choice. Some seats stay free for bags, and the whole group travels together.
For bigger groups, our minivan and minibus rental range goes up to 18 seats: Fiat Ducato Maxi (16 seats), Mercedes Sprinter (17 seats) and Volkswagen Crafter (18 seats). These minibuses have more than 9 seats, so we rent them with a professional driver.

How to choose for your group size
- 5 to 7 people: an 8 or 9-seater is perfect. Free seats hold the bags, and one person drives with a B licence.
- 8 people in total (with the driver): an 8-seater like the Staria or Trafic Combi is enough if you have normal luggage. With many suitcases, take the longer Trafic L2.
- 9 people in total: the Trafic L2 is full. This is fine for short city trips, but less comfortable for a long tour with bags.
- 10 to 14 people: this is when people look for a 12-seater. Our answer is the 14-seat Ducato with a driver.
- More than 14 people: choose a 16, 17 or 18-seater, or use more than one vehicle.
Tips before you book
- Count the exact number of people, including the driver.
- List your luggage: suitcases, baby buggies, sports or work equipment.
- Plan your route. For example, Casablanca to Marrakech is about 240 km, or 2 h 45 on the motorway, with tolls.
- Choose your pick-up point: Casablanca centre, Mohammed V airport, Rabat, Mohammedia, or delivery to Marrakech, Tangier or Agadir.
- Book early in high season. Big vehicles go fast in summer and during holidays.

Can I drive a 12-seater minibus with a B licence?
No. In Morocco, a B licence covers up to 9 seats, including the driver. A 12-seater needs a D licence. This is why our 14 to 18-seat minibuses come with a driver. Please check with us, because rules can change.
Do you rent the Mercedes Vito 9-seater?
