Car rental in Agadir: sun, surf and inland trips

Agadir is famous for its big bay, its mild weather all year and its walk by the sea. But there is much more to see in the Souss region than the beach hotels: the surf spots of Taghazout and Imsouane, the palm trees of Paradise Valley, the walls of Taroudant, the cliffs of Mirleft and the villages of the Anti-Atlas. No train goes to Agadir, and there is little transport to the inland areas. So a rental car is the easiest way to enjoy your stay.

  • Founty and Sonaba, areas with homes and hotels in the south of the bay;
  • Taghazout, Tamraght and Aourir, on the north coast, for surfers and guests of the new resorts (if you ask).

Tips for driving in the region

  • Speed: 60 km/h in town, 100 km/h on roads, 120 km/h on the A7 motorway to Marrakech. The police often check speed on the coast road to Taghazout, mostly when you leave Anza.
  • The north road: it has many bends, and there are many surfers, camper vans and cyclists. Be careful when you pass.
  • Animals: inland, you often meet goats, donkeys or camels on the road. Drive more slowly in the countryside.
  • Parking: it is easy in the tourist area. On the Corniche and at the marina, use the guarded car parks.
  • Police checks: they are common at the roundabouts at the entrance of the city. Keep your licence, your passport and the rental contract in the car.
  • Fuel: there are many petrol stations on the coast, but far fewer in the Anti-Atlas. Fill the tank before you go to Tafraout.

  • Agadir Oufella kasbah: a few minutes away, for the wide view of the bay;
  • Taghazout: about twenty kilometres, 25 minutes, for surfing and sunsets;
  • Paradise Valley: about 50 km, one hour, for its natural pools;
  • Taroudant: about 85 km, 1 h 15, the "little Marrakech" with its old walls;
  • Souss-Massa National Park: about 60 km to the south, to watch birds;
  • Imsouane: about 85 km, 1 h 30, for its famous wave and its fishing port;
  • Tiznit, Mirleft and Legzira: 1 h 30 to 2 h 30 on the south coast;
  • Marrakech: about 250 km, 3 hours on the A7.

The right vehicle for your stay

For trips between the hotel, the beach and the city, an economy car is enough. Surfers like a compact car or an SUV to carry their boards. People who want to drive the tracks to Tafraout or the Ammeln valley can choose a 4x4 rental. Families and groups will find space for all their bags in our minivans and minibuses. For a special occasion, our luxury cars are available, and a car with a driver can do your transfers. People who spend the winter in Agadir can choose long-term rental. Prices start from 30 € per day.

Rental conditions

The driver must be at least 21 years old and have had a licence for at least 2 years. Drivers under 25 may pay an extra charge. We take a deposit on a bank card, you return the car with the same fuel level, and delivery in Agadir is free.

It takes 25 to 30 minutes to the centre and the tourist area, and about 45 minutes to Taghazout.

Can I carry my surfboard?
