Driving in Casablanca: our practical tips

Traffic in Casablanca is heavy, mostly from 8 am to 10 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Some tips to drive calmly:

  • Speed limits: 60 km/h in town, 100 km/h on roads and 120 km/h on motorways. There are many speed cameras, also on the big boulevards.
  • Roundabouts: look at the road signs, because the priority rule is not the same everywhere. Slow down and take time to understand the junction.
  • Tram: several tram lines cross the city. Never park on the tram tracks, and watch the special traffic lights for the trams.
  • Parking: there are parking meters in the centre and underground car parks near the main roads. Street guards in vests also watch your car for a few dirhams.
  • Police checks: they are common at the entrances of the city. Keep your driving licence, your ID and the rental contract close to you.

Trips from Casablanca

Casablanca is central, so it is a good base to explore Morocco by motorway:

  • Rabat: about 90 km, or one hour on the A1 motorway;
  • Mohammedia: 25 km, half an hour, for its beaches and its golf course;
  • Azemmour and El Jadida: about 100 km, 1 h 15, for the old Portuguese city, a World Heritage site;
  • Marrakech: about 240 km, 2 h 45 on the A7 motorway;
  • Oualidia: about 180 km, nearly 2 h 30, for its lagoon and its oysters.

Compact and saloon cars are good for motorway trips and business travel. 4x4s and SUVs feel safe on small country roads, and our luxury cars are right for important meetings. For a group or a team, choose a minivan or a minibus. Companies can choose long-term rental, and we also offer a car with a driver for seminars, transfers and client visits. Rental conditions

The driver must be at least 21 years old and have had a driving licence for at least 2 years. There may be an extra charge for drivers under 25. We ask for a deposit on a bank card, and you return the car with the same fuel level as at the start. Delivery in Casablanca is free.
