Mercedes Vito, Mercedes Sprinter or Hyundai H1? You often see these three names when you look for a van for a group trip in Morocco. But they are very different. One is an all-purpose van, one is a big family van, and one is a real minibus. This guide helps you choose. We look at group size, bags, driving licence and route. Three vans, three uses
Mercedes Vito: the all-purpose van
The Vito is a medium-size van. It is very common in Europe and in Morocco. Depending on the version, it has 7 to 9 seats, including the driver. You can drive it with a normal car licence (B). This is why many people search for a Vito 9-seat or Vito 7-seat rental.
To be honest: the Vito is not in our current fleet. If you want a Mercedes Vito, here are the closest options:
- Mercedes V-Class, 7 seats: it is built on the same base as the Vito, but it is more premium. From 140 €/day.
- Renault Trafic L2, 9 seats: the same size as a 9-seat Vito. From 110 €/day.
- Opel Vivaro Combi, 7 seats: a simple, low-cost choice. From 95 €/day.

Hyundai H1: lots of space
The 8-seat Hyundai H1 is a tall and wide van. Its best point is space. Passengers move easily between the rows, and the boot takes big bags. You can drive it with a licence B. It carries 7 passengers and the driver. It is available from 190 €/day.
The newer Hyundai Staria has the same idea, with a more modern design and lots of light inside. It also has 8 seats and starts from 130 €/day. Both are very good for a family or friends on a trip of several days.
Mercedes Sprinter: a real minibus
The Sprinter is much bigger. Our 17-seat Mercedes Sprinter minibus can take a whole group. The roof is high, so you can almost stand inside. It is a good choice for a sports club, a company trip, a wedding or a tour. It is available from 180 €/day.

How to choose for your group
Follow these steps:
- Count everyone, including the driver. An 8-seat van carries 7 passengers. A 9-seat van carries 8.
- Think about bags. One suitcase per person is a lot. A full 9-seat van has little boot space.
- Check your licence. Licence B means 9 seats or fewer. For more seats, you need a driver.
- Think about your route. Motorway, mountains or old town: the size of the van matters.
- Choose your comfort level. For clients or an event, the V-Class is a great choice.
Family of 5 to 7 people
An Opel Vivaro Combi or a Mercedes V-Class is enough. For more bag space, the Hyundai Staria is a good choice.
Group of 8 or 9 people
The 9-seat Renault Trafic L2 is the closest to a 9-seat Vito. If you are 8 in total with many bags, take an H1 or a Staria.
Group of 10 people or more

On the road with a van
In Morocco, speed limits are 60 km/h in towns, 100 km/h on roads and 120 km/h on motorways. You pay tolls on motorways, and police checks are common. A full van needs more distance to stop, so drive slowly on mountain roads.
Casablanca to Marrakech is about 240 km, or 2 h 45 on the motorway. An H1, a Staria or a Trafic is perfect for this trip. But no van is easy in a medina, so park outside and walk. Do you rent the Mercedes Vito?

Can I drive the 17-seat Sprinter myself?
You need licence D for more than 9 seats. So we rent the Sprinter with a professional driver.

If you are 8 in total, including the driver, the Hyundai H1 or Staria has the most space. If you are 8 passengers plus the driver, take the 9-seat Trafic L2 or two vehicles.
