Why rent a 4x4 or SUV in Marrakech?
Marrakech is a great starting point for the south of Morocco. In one hour you can be in the Ourika valley. In about four hours you cross the Tizi n'Tichka pass and reach Ouarzazate. On these mountain roads, a high and comfortable car helps a lot. You see the road better, you have more space for bags, and the car is higher above bad roads and easy tracks.

Delivery in Marrakech: airport, hotel or riad
Alliance Tours is based in Casablanca. We do not have an office in Marrakech, so we deliver the car to you. The most popular places are:
- Marrakech-Menara airport: you get the keys when you land.
- Your hotel in Hivernage, Gueliz or the Palmeraie.
- A car park near your riad: cars cannot enter the old town (medina), so we meet at a gate you can reach by car.

Our 4x4 rental prices in Marrakech
Prices are per day, in euros:
- Small SUV: Haval Jolion from 40 €/day, Hyundai Tucson from 60 €/day.
- Family SUV: Cupra Terramar from 70 €/day, Jetour T2 from 90 €/day.
- Premium SUV: Audi Q8 and Range Rover Evoque from 90 €/day.
- Large luxury SUV: Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne from 280 €/day.
The final price depends on the number of days, the season and the options (second driver, child seat, return in another city). Ask us for a quote. We confirm the exact price before you book.
SUV or real 4x4? The honest answer
Our cars are SUVs, not special off-road 4x4 vehicles. They are very good on the Atlas roads, on small roads and on easy, dry tracks. The Range Rover Sport and the Porsche Cayenne are the strongest cars we have.
But the sand dunes of Merzouga need a real 4x4 and an experienced driver. Driving in sand without experience is not safe. The car can get stuck or break, and normal insurance usually does not cover off-road driving. The best plan: leave your SUV at the hotel or camp, and book a 4x4 tour with a local guide there.
With or without a driver?
You can drive yourself with a valid driving licence. For long days to Ouarzazate or Merzouga, many travellers choose a car with a driver. The driver knows the mountain roads and the best places to stop, and you can enjoy the view. We compare both options in 4x4 rental in Marrakech with or without a driver.
Insurance, tracks and driving tips
- Insurance covers normal roads. Difficult tracks and off-road driving are usually not covered. Ask us before you go.
- Speed limits: 60 km/h in town, 100 km/h on roads, 120 km/h on the motorway. There are many police checks.
- Tizi n'Tichka: a mountain pass with many turns. Drive in the day and take breaks.
- Fuel: fill the tank before long mountain or desert parts.
- Motorway: Casablanca to Marrakech (about 240 km, 2 h 45) has tolls.
